Annual WNC Orchid Society Show at Asheville's North Carolina Arboretum

March 28 - 29    WNC Orchid Society Show     The WNC Orchid Society will host its annual show at The North Carolina Arboretum. The popular juried plant show will also feature award-winning orchid vendors, many of whom are nationally recognized growers and hybridizers. Rare and unusual plants, specialty lighting and orchid supplies will be available for purchase.&nbsp

This year’s theme, “Orchid Shangri-La,” will be interpreted in carefully crafted displays by world-class orchid growers and regional orchid societies. Admission: Free with parking fee admission ($8 per vehicle).

The North Carolina Arboretum Hosts The Carolina Bonsai Expo this Weekend

October 12-13   Carolina Bonsai Expo   The juried work of bonsai enthusiasts from bonsai clubs in a six-state region of the United States is on exhibit. Every year the Expo includes free educational programming, workshops, a bonsai marketplace featuring plants, pots, tools and books for sale, ikebana displays and a live auction of bonsai and bonsai-related items.

The exhibit is held at the NC Arboretum, 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way in Asheville NC. 

 

Ikebana Exhibit This Weekend at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville

May 18 - 19   Ikebana Exhibit   The Japanese art of flower design, as presented by the Asheville Chapter of Ikebana International, will be on display. A trio of quilts, crafted by students of chapter member Norma Bradley's ikebana and tea ceremony residency at Black Mountain Elementary, will also be featured in the exhibition.

NC Artist Ann Vasilik Show Opens Today at the North Carolina Arboretum

January 26 - May 19   NC Artist Ann Vasilik Show " A Painter's Journey"   on exhibit at the NC Arboretum, captures her travels at home and abroad, open to the public 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily. Ann Vasilik., a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has lived in Asheville, North Carolina since 1988 and is best known for her vibrant paintings that capture the natural and architectural beauty of Western North Carolina. Her new exhibit will feature familiar scenes of our mountain community as well as exciting locales from her world travels.

NC Aboretum Hosts Party Your Asana Off Fund Raiser

May 3, 6 - 9 PM: “Party Your Asana Off”, a fundraiser benefitting Asheville Community Yoga. The events will inlcude  an amazing array of entertainment, food and drinks - all guaranteed to last all night. Upon entry, enjoy the sounds of strolling fiddler Cailen Campbell. Then dance the night away with music provided by Asheville’s top DJ’s from Sound Extreme; making dance a key element of the party. Clan Destiny Circus will ramp up the fun with performances by their acrobalancers, stilt walkers and hoopers. Town Mountain Massage will offer donation based chair massages. 

Food, beer and wine are included with your ticket price - enjoy beer from Catawba Valley Brewing Company, Alamos wine and tables full of food from a variety of generous donors including Hickory Nut Gap, Zen Sushi and Roots. Bring your checkbook! There will be a raffle with over forty awesome items on which to bid.
