October 5, 10 AM on The Blue Ridge Parkway at Black Balsam Road (FR 816), just south of Milepost 420 in Asheville.  Join Parkway rangers for an easy to moderate 2.5 mile roundtrip hike to the summit of Sam Knob. Enjoy the beginings of the changing fall foliage and learn about the different ways animals of the mountains are preparing for the coming winter season.

The hike will begin at the Black Balsam parking area accessed via the Black Balsam Road (FR 816), just south of Milepost 420. Remember to bring water, wear good hiking shoes, and be prepared for brisk autumn weather. Call (828) 298-5330 ext. 304 for details.
