October  2, 2015       Asheville Downtown Gallery Art Walk    The Downtown Asheville Art District (DAAD) invites you to visit the more than twenty galleries that contribute to Asheville's reputation as a vibrant arts community and "The Paris of the South."

Within a half-mile radius of Pack Square and the city's center, you'll find unparalleled diversity from fine studio crafts, to glass, photography, folk art and contemporary painting, metalwork, textiles, jewelry and more by local, regional, national and international artists.

Asheville Downtown Gallery Association Art Walk thi Friday Night

April 3, 2015   Asheville Downtown Gallery Association Art Walk   Enjoy the fine art and craft of the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association. Within a half-mile radius of Pack Square and the city's center, you'll find unparalleled diversity from fine studio crafts, to glass, photography, folk art and contemporary painting, metalwork, textiles, jewelry and more by local, regional, national and international artists.  

Visit 20+ downtown venues participating with a complete Downtown Gallery Guide and a map available at any member downtown gallery, the Asheville Visitors' Center or Pack Place. The Walks take place each first Friday from 5-8PM, April through December.

aSHEville Museum Celebrates Valentines with Local Women Artists

 aSHEville Museum is a women’s cultural museum with a mission to contribute to the creation of more just and equitable world through its collection of intimate exhibits which range from historic to contemporary in scope, and local to global. Core exhibits include: Appalachian Women, 100 Years of Sexism in Advertising, and A History of Hysteria. 

aSHEville Museum also houses a variety of rotating exhibits. The Museum gift shop offers art, crafts, and gift items made by talented local and regional women artists and fair-trade women-made items supporting women's organizations. The Museum is located at 35 Wall Street in downtown Asheville NC.

River Arts District Second Saturday Studio Tours and Events

October 11, 2014    River Arts District Second Saturday   Asheville’s River Arts District Artists open their studios for a day of family friendly fun, educational experiences, live demonstrations and to share their creations. Visit dozens of artists working in all types of media, available for viewing or purchase.

Asheville's River Arts District is a truly remarkable place and a "must see" in Asheville.  The District is open year around for visitors to meet 150+ artists in their studios, browse craft galleries and shops and stop to re-energize at one of the cafes or restaurants or the Brewery.  Schedules are available online. Twice a year, every second weekend in June and November, Asheville’s River Arts District opens to the public for two days of festivities known as the STUDIO STROLL.  On SECOND SATURDAYS artists welcome you into their studios to talk with them, see their latest artwork, watch demonstrations, and experience for yourself the magic hidden inside the time-worn factories and warehouses along the French Broad River. Blue Ridge Parkway and the Folk Art Center Re-Open

The government shut-down has ended and all the facilities along the Blue Ridge Parkway are open, including the popular Folk Art Center at milepost 382 in Asheville.

The Folk Art Center   Home base for the Southern Highland Craft Guild, the Center is the hub of traditional and contemporary mountain art and crafts, with changing exhibits in both the focus gallery and the main gallery and the permanent exhibit all styles are displayed. Demonstrations and educational opportunities are scheduled regularly and there are special events throughout the year. The members shop is visited by thousands of tourists and locals annually.
