October  2, 2015       Asheville Downtown Gallery Art Walk    The Downtown Asheville Art District (DAAD) invites you to visit the more than twenty galleries that contribute to Asheville's reputation as a vibrant arts community and "The Paris of the South."

Within a half-mile radius of Pack Square and the city's center, you'll find unparalleled diversity from fine studio crafts, to glass, photography, folk art and contemporary painting, metalwork, textiles, jewelry and more by local, regional, national and international artists.

Asheville Downtown Gallery Association Art Walk thi Friday Night

April 3, 2015   Asheville Downtown Gallery Association Art Walk   Enjoy the fine art and craft of the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association. Within a half-mile radius of Pack Square and the city's center, you'll find unparalleled diversity from fine studio crafts, to glass, photography, folk art and contemporary painting, metalwork, textiles, jewelry and more by local, regional, national and international artists.  

Visit 20+ downtown venues participating with a complete Downtown Gallery Guide and a map available at any member downtown gallery, the Asheville Visitors' Center or Pack Place. The Walks take place each first Friday from 5-8PM, April through December.

American Craft Week Event: Open Art and Craft Studios at Asheville's Grovewood Gallery

October 5   Grovewood Gallery’s resident artists are opening up their studios to the public on Saturday, October 5 and again on Friday, October 11. Grovewood Studios are located on the grounds of Grovewood Gallery in North Asheville, across the street from The Omni Grove Park Inn.

This is a unique opportunity for visitors to interact with professional artists, see artwork at the source, and expose them to the remarkable talent that Asheville has to offer. These studio tours are REE and self-guided. Both Grovewood Gallery and Grovewood Studios are housed in the historic Biltmore Industries complex.

Biltmore Industries originated as a craft school in the early part of the 20th century to better the lives of the economically deprived youth of the Appalachian region. It soon grew and gained worldwide recognition for its hand-loomed fabrics. In its heyday, Biltmore Industries housed 40 working looms in steady operation.

Grovewood Studios were established in 1992, continuing Biltmore Industries’ tradition of supporting local craftspeople. Today, nationally known artisans create jewelry, furniture, pottery, glass and more, in the same workshops where Biltmore Homespun was once created.

Grovewood Gallery's 14th Annual Charity Sale

April 5 -7   Grovewood Gallery's 14th Annual Charity Sale   10% of all proceeds from this 3 day event will go to benefit Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville. During the sale, customers will be able to save 10% on all regular priced crafts, including studio furniture and outdoor sculptures, and up to 75% on sale items. Everything in the gallery will be marked down.

Poetry Reading at The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center

February 7 - The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center presents a Poetry Reading with five of Asheville's most interesting poets including Ekua Adisa, Melanie Bianchi, Erik Moellering, Eric Steineger and Robert Zachary.

Admission for the event is $7  and  $5 for BMCM+AC members and students.

"The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center preserves and continues the unique legacy of educational and artistic innovation of Black Mountain College for public study and enjoyment. We achieve our mission through collection, conservation, and educational activities including exhibitions, publications, and public programs."
