September 22-23 Pioneer Days
and Frontier Militia Muster at the Vance
Birthday Historic NC Site. The Catawba Militia recreates the sights and sounds
of a post colonial citizens militia muster. Demonstrations of everyday life on a
Southern Appalachian farmstead in the early 1800's will be ongoing throughout
the weekend. See an 18th century citizen's militia muster with small arms
drills, camplife activities. There will be hands-on kids' activities. FREE
event, donations welcome.
The events is held at the Historic Vance Birthplace, just north of Asheville in Weaverville NC.
