Carolina Bonsai Expo this Weekend in Asheville

October 11 - 12, 2014   Carolina Bonsai Expo   The juried work of bonsai enthusiasts from bonsai clubs in a six-state region of the United States is on exhibit. Every year the Expo includes free educational programming, workshops, a bonsai marketplace featuring plants, pots, tools and books for sale, ikebana displays and a live auction of bonsai and bonsai-related items. 

This year's guest artist is David DeGroot. The Expo is held annually at the North Carolina Aboretum, 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Wayin Asheville NC. The expo is free for Arboretum Society members or with the standard parking fee ($12 per personal vehicle).

The Ice Age comes to Asheville this Weekend

September 22 - January 6    After the Dinosaurs: The Age of Mammals and Ice Exhibit at the NC Arboretum   A traveling museum exhibit that tells the story of the Ice Age. Its exciting interactive displays and giant robotic creatures make the drama of the ancient titans that dominated the age accessible to all. Focused on the flora and fauna of North America, the exhibit provokes visitors to wonder what life was like in the Ice Age.

The North Carolina Arboretum  offers magnificent gardens and miles of woodland trails, ontinual special events and touring shows. Just as experience of nature is intimate, visitors to The North Carolina Arboretum connect with plants in personal ways that are as diverse and rich as the land itself. Whether you enjoy strolling through gardens, exploring exhibits, enriching your mind or hiking and biking, the Arboretum offers activities for all age. The NC Arboretum is located at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way in Asheville NC.
